The Horse

“Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy, or beauty without vanity?  Here, where grace is served with muscle and strength by gentleness confined he serves without servility; he has fought without enmity. There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent. There is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.”

by Ronald Duncan, “The Horse”, 1954

After playing to a packed house last night, us and our fellow exhibitors will wrap up the last of the classes today here at the The Michigan Great Lakes Draft Horse Show.

  1. What a GREAT photo…..and that quote is “spot on”….horses are incredibly special creatures and their glory is surpassed by none….as little time as I’ve actually spent WITH horses, it’s still fascinating to me that I am so drawn to them…..their eyes hold so much magic and gentleness – that’s a big part of it. But then again YOU know all about what I’m trying to say don’t you?!

  2. Man, I’m sorry D. We plodded through our Sunday morning routine and planned to hit The Pavilion just after lunch, during which Sandra checked out today’s schedule and told me it was all over by that time. Darn! I do love this picture, though – those guys & gals are awesome.
